Join the convoy
Two ways onto the road
Selected local 4x4 teams may join the official convoy for a defined national stage. How you apply depends on where your team and your vehicle are based — 17 countries sit on the planned line of travel, and teams from outside the Americas face a completely different set of problems before they reach the start of a chapter.

Where is your team based?
Track A — the Americas
Your country is on the road
If your team is based in one of the 35 sovereign countries of the Americas, you can apply for a national chapter stage in your own country. This is the standard route into the convoy: you drive familiar ground, with local plates, local documents and local knowledge that the expedition needs.
Who this is for
Teams registered and insured in a country of the Americas, driving their own vehicle on home or neighbouring roads.
Apply from the AmericasTrack B — rest of the world
Coming from outside the Americas
Teams from Europe, Africa, Asia and Oceania are welcome, but the path is different. You are not driving home roads: you must solve visas, temporary vehicle import, shipping or rental, and a language barrier before you reach the start of a chapter. We screen international teams earlier and more strictly for exactly that reason.
Who this is for
Teams based outside the Americas who intend to ship, rent or already keep a vehicle on the continent.
Apply from outside the AmericasApplying is never a right to participate. Every application is screened, places per chapter are limited, and participation requires signed agreements, valid documents, suitable insurance, technical compliance and acceptance of expedition rules. Guest vehicles do not cross the Darién Gap with the core expedition.
